Weekday Morning Coffee
How I make coffee most mornings lately.
Equipment:
- Oxo Brew 8-cup (an SCA Certified Home Brewer)
 - reusable basket coffee filter (such as the GoldTone 8-12 cup filter)
 - Baratza Encore grinder
 - kitchen scale
 - insulated mug
 - Merit Sugarplum (seasonal)

Method:
- weigh beans. 50–55g is the max for my coffee maker and reusable filter; too much and it foams up and hits the "shower head".
 - grind beans (setting 21)
 - weigh grounds into the filter
 - measure water by weight. I'm measuring 16.3:1 water-to-coffee with this batch of Sugarplum. Tweak this ratio to your preference.
 - Pour water in to the coffee maker, and install the filter basket.
 - Place the carafe to the side, but make sure the filter basket switch is on the "carafe" setting and not "cup" setting.
 - Start brewing!
 - Watch and listen for the "bloom cycle" to finish, then
 - quickly stir the grounds to make sure all grounds are wet, and close the lid before the main cycle starts.
 - Slowly place the carafe in its right place.
 - Wait for the beep, and enjoy the tasty coffee!
