Weekday Morning Coffee

How I make coffee most mornings lately.

Equipment:

Method:

  1. weigh beans. 50–55g is the max for my coffee maker and reusable filter; too much and it foams up and hits the "shower head".
  2. grind beans (setting 21)
  3. weigh grounds into the filter
  4. measure water by weight. I'm measuring 16.3:1 water-to-coffee with this batch of Sugarplum. Tweak this ratio to your preference.
  5. Pour water in to the coffee maker, and install the filter basket.
  6. Place the carafe to the side, but make sure the filter basket switch is on the "carafe" setting and not "cup" setting.
  7. Start brewing!
  8. Watch and listen for the "bloom cycle" to finish, then
  9. quickly stir the grounds to make sure all grounds are wet, and close the lid before the main cycle starts.
  10. Slowly place the carafe in its right place.
  11. Wait for the beep, and enjoy the tasty coffee!
